Vendor Spotlight: The Photography Co

Choosing the right professionals for your wedding is a personal decision and tends to lean on far more than just their portfolios alone. On a wedding day you spend so much time with your vendors, so having a connection with them makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. We want you to have a chance to get to know your vendors a little better before you make that tough decision on who to choose. We reached out to our wedding professionals on your behalf so you can become better acquainted with them.

What's a wedding trend you would like to see?

Late night snack trucks! We did a wedding last year and they had a taco truck come and it was a HUGE hit.

What is your wind down ritual after a wedding day?

We usually have quite a drive ahead of us after a wedding so we usually listen to the comedy channel in the car to have some laughs and we talk about favourite parts of the day.

If we were to come into your office, what would we see? (be honest)

Right now we are in limbo with our office because we are wanting to renovate so its a HUGE mess. But you would see 2 iMacs, hardrives and Chris's Collection of Star Wars Lego. Chris is a very organized person so his desk looks fairly organized but I (Megan) don't mind working in a bit of desk chaos.

What would your theme song be?

This was tough but I'm gonna go with Can't Stop The Feeling by Justin Timberlake. We love happy music!

What is your current favourite local business in Georgian Bay?

Megan: This is a tough one! I love so many local businesses but I am a big kid so one of my favourite businesses is The Rocking Horse in Owen Sound. I have been going there since I was born and I continue to take my kids there!

Chris: I don't really have a favourite.

What is the best present you have ever received? Why?

Chris: When I was 12 my grandad gave me a telescope. I've always been really into space and with this telescope, I could see Saturn’s rings!

Megan: My engagement ring was my favourite present! Chris custom designed my ring so it meant to much to me and it's beautiful!!

Tell us about a creative piece you worked on that you're extremely proud of.

Chris has been working on landscapes and finding neat and interesting places around Georgian Bay.

What is your superhero power?

Making people laugh. When we are taking photos we sometimes have to come up with different ways to get natural smiles.

What is something strange or interesting people would never know just by looking at you?

Megan: I am actually very shy but at weddings, I can push myself out of my comfort zone! I'm also terrified of heights.

Chris: I served a mission in South East Asia for 2 years when I was 19.

Tell us about your all time favourite wedding

We have so many favourites but here is one! Last year we shot an intimate wedding in the Collingwood area. The couple got married on their friend's property and had their ceremony around sunset with Blue Mountain and the Georgian Bay as their backdrop. At their reception, the bride's dad and his band played music and they were honestly the best live wedding band we have ever heard! Everyone was dancing and singing and just having a good time. We loved working with this couple because of how easy-going, fun, and happy they are. We had so much fun being with everyone that it didn't feel like work, instead, it felt like we were just hanging out with friends.

What was the biggest blooper you've ever experienced at a wedding?

Chris: During a wedding, my pants ripped!

What is currently inspiring you?

People in general inspire us. When we are capturing our clients we want to try and tell a story of who they are. Once we have met I can get an idea of how they interact, like are they goofy together, romantic, etc and it can inspire some beautiful moments we can create.

What creative project are you working on right now?

Megan: Right now I don't have any creative projects I am working on BUT I would love to plan a styled wedding shoot on a beach.

Chris: I am starting a youtube channel that would be about our business and us. I want to help educate new photographers and give insight to how we do things.
