VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Euclid Design Co

Choosing the right professionals for your wedding is a personal decision and tends to lean on far more than just their portfolios alone. On a wedding day you spend so much time with your vendors, so having a connection with them makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. We want you to have a chance to get to know your vendors a little better before you make that tough decision on who to choose. We reached out to our wedding professionals on your behalf so you can become better acquainted with them.

Meet Rachel, A Georgian Bay Wedding Florist.

Rachel is a floral designer who blends together creativity, practicality, and a love of local flowers in her design approach. She also builds copper backdrops for wedding ceremonies. Born in the city and raised in the suburbs, she has embraced life in the country with enthusiasm. Rachel wants you to feel like you’re working with a close friend when putting together your wedding flowers--ask her a question and she will do her best to provide you with a transparent answer that leaves you feeling informed and confident. Working with Rachel is a true partnership where your wedding day flowers will be a reflection of you and your love.

What's your favourite way to spark creativity and how do you stay inspired?:

I find that speaking to other people helps me to spark up creative ideas and stay inspired. Speaking to fellow creatives — flower friends, photographers, and artists beyond the event industry — helps me to work out not just what I’m doing, but the “how.” The collective problem-solving and enthusiasm keep me excited to try new things and bring them to life.

Tell us about your process. What can your clients expect when they inquire with you?

When clients inquire with me, I usually schedule a 1:1 chat with them so that I can catch up to where they are in the planning process, and I can see how my services fit with the vision for their event. I try to explain my approach and aesthetic, because we’re working to blend my creative skills with a venue, season, and their personal dynamic. I’ll probably share a few funny anecdotes or discuss choices that other couples have made, to show the different available options when it comes to wedding day flowers. I trust my clients to weigh the information that I provide them, and make a decision that fits their style and budget.

How early in advance should clients reach out to you?

Honestly, reach out whenever you know you want to work with me! I’ve worked with amazing people who booked me a year-plus out from their wedding, and others who went with the flow and seized an opportunity to get married on a three-week timeline. All I know is that I have a soft spot for easy-going people who want pretty seasonal flowers and trust me to bring them the best of what grows locally!

What question(s) do you wish more clients would ask you when inquiring about your services?

Ask me about where I get flowers from, and what the process is like behind the scenes. Flowers look magical on your big day, but there’s such a huge story behind where they come from and how they end up in your hands. I love when people want to know more about that!

What question(s) do you wish clients would stop asking you?

There aren’t really many questions that I would like clients to stop asking, because every question is an attempt to learn more so that they can make an informed decision.

What's the one piece of advice you give all your couples?

Suss out your vendors early — if someone is bringing something that’s high-priority for you to your big day, get to know them and build trust with them. Then, let them do their thing. We expect perfection for ourselves and we will bring that to the event, no matter how big or how small.

What is your favourite wedding tradition?

The wedding vows. No matter if people write their own (and go on at length), or they’re short and sweet, like the ones my husband and I borrowed from the Quakers. When couples share those words with each other and with their families it’s like watching them lay the foundation for their futures together. Ugh, excuse me while I go cry a lil’…

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

Scotland. There’s a long hike with a view of the ocean and the sound of a slightly menacing wind waiting to clear my head.

What is your favourite part when designing for a wedding?

The feeling that I get when clients feel like we’re on the same page with a design. That’s when it starts to feel real.

Describe your dream day off.

Probably eating homemade banh mi buns with good friends and laughing a lot.

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I can’t swim. Oh… Maybe that’s not so fun. I give really amazing hugs.
