VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: Erin Guenter Beauty

Choosing the right professionals for your wedding is a personal decision and tends to lean on far more than just their portfolios alone. On a wedding day you spend so much time with your vendors, so having a connection with them makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. We want you to have a chance to get to know your vendors a little better before you make that tough decision on who to choose. We reached out to our wedding professionals on your behalf so you can become better acquainted with them.

Meet Erin Guenter, A Georgian Bay Make-up Artist.

Erin is a freelance Makeup Artist and a Skin Care/Eyebrow Specialist with over 20 years experience in the beauty industry, specializing in Bridal. She offers on location makeup services, consultations, lessons and personal shopping in both conventional beauty and eco conscious beauty. In addition to Bridal, she also has a vast amount of experience in film, print editorial, cosmetic retail, retail consulting, product development and tv, having been a Makeup Artist for Rogers Sportsnet for over 8 years. Her knowledge of the industry is profound and sharing tricks and tips is something that she is known for. Beyond her love for makeup lies an obsession with skin which is the foundation of any makeup. She believes the prettiest face is one that doesn't look made up at all and that makeup should be used to enhance, not cover or change.

What's your favourite way to spark creativity and how do you stay inspired?:

I have always been a very visual person and have always loved using print media sources such as magazines but in an online world, I also utilize digital media sources such as Pinterest to spark creativity and stay inspired!

Tell us about your process. What can your clients expect when they inquire with you?

They can expect an open and honest dialogue and efficiency! I like to respond to all inquiries quickly, providing enough information that the client has a good idea of the booking and day of process. I am open to all questions, I am a veteran in the industry and for most clients, this is their first time planning a wedding which can be daunting.

How early in advance should clients reach out to you?

At least a year! I am quickly booking up for 2022 and into 2023. I highly recommend reaching out to all preferred vendors sooner than later, especially if you have your heart set on certain ones.

What question(s) do you wish more clients would ask you when inquiring about your services?

I appreciate it when clients ask about my experience! It is easy to view photos on social media or online and see pretty makeup but knowing the artist’s experience and background can put the client at ease knowing the artist is equipped to handle the day of and any concerns that may arise. I also wish more clients would ask specifically about my preferred esthetic and thoughts on beauty! It helps to find artists/clients that are most compatible. Another great question I wish more clients would ask is what they could do to make the day go smoothly! It shows me that they care and have respect for me and the role we both can play in having the best wedding day!

What question(s) do you wish clients would stop asking you?

I really do appreciate any and all questions! One silly question can open a dialogue between the client and I which can create a more clear understanding of their beauty wants and needs and what to expect through the process. Although one question that arises often that I don’t love is “How much would you charge for just eyes?”. When booking an artist, a look is a package deal, it is hard to have one without the other. You are paying for the artist's talent and time, if “just eyes” are requested, the rate is the same.

What's the one piece of advice you give all your couples?

As cliche as it sounds, I tell them to “Stop and smell the roses!”. The day really does fly by, relish in it, don’t sweat the small stuff and truly enjoy your people and your day!

What is your favourite wedding tradition?

Over the years I have become a big fan of the “Reveal”. A moment with just the couple (and of course the photographer)…a moment to revel in each other, to gush, to appreciate where you started, how far you have come and the reason for the wedding and the LOVE!

If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

It would be a hard choice between somewhere I haven’t been and somewhere I have! With not being able to travel it has made me yearn for new experiences but also re-live what I know and love!

Are there any trends in make-up that you are particularly excited to try out?

After all of these years I am still a sucker for classic old school glam! A look that seems to work for all…great eyebrows (very important, good skin, bright eyes and some color on the lips! Think Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Audrey Hepburn.

Describe your dream day off.

I am an avid thrifter and foodie! I would enjoy the day free of children and responsibility and thrift, drink and eat till my heart’s content!

Tell us a fun fact about you.

I went to school to be a Midwife!

Tell us what's new and exciting with you.

I have recently reopened my studio, Two Hands Beauty Co and am back shaping, tinting, and laminating eyebrows! Lifting and tinting lashes, offering makeup lessons, and am currently working on offering a selection of personally chosen beauty items to retail to all of my amazing clients!
