Couple:

Jennifer & Trevor

Location:

Serenity Cottage, Annan

From the Photographer:

Serenity Cottage has one of the most beautiful backdrops for a wedding day, but besides that this couple is truly special. Jennifer & Trevor met while Jennifer was a nurse and Trevor was receiving cancer treatments. They are who they are, and without much prompting or posing, you can tell through their photos that they had the best day. There were a few things that made this particular wedding unique. Firstly, Serenity Cottage is unique in that it promotes a destination wedding vibe on the shores of Georgian Bay. Couples can do everything there without leaving the relaxed cottage atmosphere. Second, this wedding day in particular was covered in fog from the bay, which made the day extra playful and beautiful to photograph. Lastly, the couple brought their dog along, which is always a bonus because they're family too!

Here's what they had to say about choosing a favourite moment from their wedding day:

“One of our favorite moments was coming in from taking photos on the cold misty day and seeing the tables setup up and candles lit for dinner. From the smell of fresh eucalyptus from the table garlands to the sounds of conversations and laughter, we were able to see everything we envisioned setup making it cozy warm intimate environment that we dreamed of. At that moment we purposely tried to be present and take in the moment as the wedding day goes by very quickly.“

Since this venue is destination worthy, Serenity Cottage has a way of making wedding days feel like a vacation with your closest friends and family.  The wedding day ends up being stress free and the timeline is flexible because everything is in one spot. I am excited to share this wedding, not only because this couple is beautiful inside and out, but also to help inspire an authentic wedding experience for other couples in locations that are one of a kind.

From the Couple:

How did you choose your venue?: It was a reflection of the atmosphere we were looking for for our special day. We liked the relaxed rustic vibe.

What was the most important thing for you for your wedding day?: Being surrounded by the most important people in our lives

Please describe any unique details from your day and why they were special to you: We liked having family stay right with us at the venue. Because of the cottage setting, we were able to have various areas to enjoy the wedding i.e. dance floor, patio and open fire area, water front. etc.

What was the atmosphere you were trying to create?: A mix of rustic and elegance.

What area of your wedding did you splurge on? (what was your top priority): Venue, definitely.

What area of your wedding did you save on?: We were able to supply our own alcohol which saved us a lot.

What wedding advice would you give to someone planning their wedding now?: We would say, make lists, hire good people that you trust and most importantly, have a wedding that YOU envision not someone else's dream.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?: It was a cold misty day. We came inside from our pictures outside and went upstairs to where all our guests were sitting for dinner. The tables were set and the candles lit for dinner. From the smell of fresh eucalyptus to the table garlands to the sounds of conversations and laughter. We were able to see everything we envisioned, our dream of a cozy, warm intimate environment. Great food, flowers and friends!

What was your biggest challenge in the planning process?: Keeping things within the budget.

What was your first dance song?: Are You With Me? - Easton Corbin
