Vendor Spotlight: Erin Guenter Beauty
Choosing the right professionals for your wedding is a personal decision and tends to lean on far more than just their portfolios alone. On a wedding day you spend so much time with your vendors, so having a connection with them makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. We want you to have a chance to get to know your vendors a little better before you make that tough decision on who to choose. We reached out to our wedding professionals on your behalf so you can become better acquainted with them.
Meet Erin - A Georgian Bay Make up Artist
Erin is a freelance Makeup Artist and a Skin Care/Eyebrow Specialist with over 20 years experience in the beauty industry, specializing in Bridal. She offers on location makeup services, consultations, lessons and personal shopping in both conventional beauty and eco conscious beauty. In addition to Bridal, she also has a vast amount of experience in film, print editorial, cosmetic retail, retail consulting, product development and tv, having been a Makeup Artist for Rogers Sportsnet for over 8 years. Her knowledge of the industry is profound and sharing tricks and tips is something that she is known for. Beyond her love for makeup lies an obsession with skin which is the foundation of any makeup. She believes the prettiest face is one that doesn't look made up at all and that makeup should be used to enhance, not cover or change.

What's a wedding trend you would like to see?
I love seeing accessories that take centre stage! A standout head piece, hair clip, bracelet, necklace or earrings. It is a great way to show off your personal style in addition to your dress!
What is your wind down ritual after a wedding day?
I am usually starving so grabbing something to eat is often the first thing on my mind. So many of my Brides are so considerate and always offering food and drink while I am working but when working I tend to get into my zone and don’t like to break the rhythm although I pay for it when I am done.…usually with a dehydration headache and a gurgling stomach!
If we were to come into your office, what would we see? (be honest)
I don’t have an office but like to keep my kit, which would be somewhat equivalent to my office, clean and organized!
What would your theme song be?
Hustlin’ by Rick Ross or Lovely Day by Bill Withers!
What is your current obsession?
Baking bread and doing research on Skin Care and Eyebrow trends!
What is your current favourite local business in Georgian Bay?
This is not related to my work but to my family and how we enjoy spending our time in Georgian Bay...my kids and I adore The Wildlings Camp run by Collingwood Local Sarah Ney. She is so enthusiastic about nature and the outdoors and I feel blessed that my children have access to this kind of experiential learning!
What is the best present you have ever received? Why?
My husband had an amazing portrait artist sketch my favorite photo of my son...so thoughtful and something I will treasure for life.
Tell us about a creative piece you worked on that you're extremely proud of.
I have consulted on retail lines which have been both fun and challenging but very rewarding!
Favourite ice cream flavour?
Earl Grey...although Tiger Tiger or Tiger Tail as it is also called has been a favorite since childhood!
What is your superhero power?
Knowing the exact moment when my kids are doing something they shouldn’t be!
What is something strange or interesting people would never know just by looking at you?
I’ve had a habit since childhood of running my finger across my lip as a calming/soothing mechanism…..it may sound odd but it is very comforting.
Tell us about your all time favourite wedding
I did a wedding once that was very theatrical! Both the Bride and her Mother had dresses custom made that looked like they came from a period movie set. It was a black tie event and all guests had to wear solid black and everything was over the top. It was so different from the weddings I usually do and it was so much fun and inspiring!!
What was the biggest blooper you've ever experienced at a wedding?
Luckily I haven’t been responsible for any wedding day bloopers but I did have to make up for someone else’s blooper when the person responsible for doing the hair didn’t show up and my assistant and I had to squeeze hair services into our already tight timeline! I’m not sure if that counts as a blooper or nightmare!
Favourite snack on a wedding day?
Usually fruit...it is non offensive and can usually be consumed delicately and quickly.
What is the most common compliment you get from your couples after working with you?
It is an honor to have the Grooms reach out and thank me for doing such a great job making their Brides look like the best versions of themselves.
Who would win in a fight - Taco or Pizza?
Taco
Pineapple on pizza - OMG Yes or EW?
omg YES
The Office - British or American?
British
What is currently inspiring you?
More of a who than a what...Katie Jane Hughes is a brilliant Makeup Artist who is able to create looks that are both fresh and natural and bold and artistic!
What creative project are you working on right now?
I am not working on anything currently considering the circumstances and the nature of my job but have many creative projects in the works for when we are given the green light to work again and I am so excited to be able to also offer new services!
