COUPLE:

Teresa & Adrian

LOCATION:

Kimberley, Ontario

From the photographer:

We instantly felt a connection to the Bride & Groom when we first met. Teresa and Adrian knew exactly what what they wanted for their wedding. Since they both run their own businesses they were very organized, having done lots of research ahead making them great to work with. We knew that this wedding would be beautiful. They are also very laid back and both have the sweetest personalities.

Their wedding was really unique because it was a brunch wedding, starting and finishing much earlier than a traditional wedding timeline. The food was outstanding, with a big buffet, including some special Portuguese foods and desserts. The cake was actually 3 wheels of different cheeses making for a really unique treat. There was also a coffee bar, pure genius in our opinion, which had two baristas ready to make espressos and cappuccinos for everyone. There were speeches from immediate family members and everyone at the wedding was just so nice and kind. It was truly a pleasure to document their day.

From the couple:

How did you choose your venue?: Thanksgiving 2018, we were walking around Adrian's parent's property (our venue) and after walking through the field, something inside told us this was the place we wanted to get married; fortunately, they agreed when we asked.

What was the most important thing for you for your wedding day?: That it was an expression of our love for each other and reflection of our style: simple, romantic and filled with lots of little details.

Please describe any unique details from your day and why they were special to you: Our coffee bar is our number one unique detail from the day (thank you, Mochaberry in Orangeville). There was no way we were going to have brunch without lattes and they made it happen, and it was a huge hit with our guests!
Another unique detail was our thank-you gift to our guests; we gave them all jam from Montreal. The story behind this is that Teresa was working at a jam shop when she and Adrian met and they got engaged in Montreal, so the gift was a subtle tie-in with our story.

What area of your wedding did you splurge on? (what was your top priority): Food and Beverage. Food is at the center of all Portuguese gatherings; it's a love language of ours.

What area of your wedding did you save on?: Dance floor, lighting, heating; daytime wedding for the win.

What was the atmosphere you were trying to create?: Saturday brunch with loved ones. Cozy and thoughtful.

What wedding advice would you give to someone planning their wedding now?: Figure out what you want and say no to the rest. There is so much that comes up when you start planning and second-guessing yourself can become second-nature. Knowing what you want the day to look like makes blocking out the noise (opinions, endless pinterest boards, and all the "must-haves"), and sticking to your budget much easier.

What was your most memorable moment of the day?: It's tied between our first look because it was a moment just for us, and the very end of the party when most of our guests had left and we sat back and enjoyed the company of a handful of our friends. Both were moments that let us savour all the magic and the fact that the day was real.

What was your biggest challenge in the planning process?: Two big challenges: the first was sourcing a vendor for our coffee bar, we wanted a full-service coffee bar (lattes, cappuccinos, the works), and it was hard to find one that was local and able to do it; the second was all the zoning/permit requirements that we had to fulfill for our tent, it was all so close to the date (because of their timelines) and the communication wasn't consistent so it lead to more stress than necessary.

What was your first dance song?: Our song was "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman. We had a brunch wedding with no dancing, so we walked down the aisle at the end of the ceremony to it instead.
