Colourful Autumn Wedding in Walter's Falls
Couple:
Sarah and Josh
Location:
Walter’s Falls
From the Photographer:
The location of this wedding was so perfect with all the beautiful colours! The couple, their wedding party, family and guests were all so fun to work with! One thing that stood out to us was the bride asking for a shotgun photo. Now when I first saw that listed I had no idea what to expect! I (Megan) had no idea the shotgun would be the bride and groom cutting a beer can and chugging it!
From the Couple:
How did you choose your venue?: We had viewed multiple venues and had seen many beautiful ones but we had a vision of what our fall ceremony would look like and when we visited Walter’s Falls Inn we knew it was the perfect fit.
What was the most important thing for you for your wedding day?: The weather holding out for us. We were set on having our ceremony outside rain or shine, preferably shine. The beginning of the day didn’t look promising and a few hours prior to the wedding we were asked if they needed to set chairs up inside. We said no and thank goodness we did because the sun came out right before walking down the aisle and stayed out for the rest of the day.
Please describe any unique details from your day and why they were special to you: One unique detail from our wedding day, that may seem funny but was actually very special, was that when the officiant pronounced us man and wife she actually mispronounced our last name (not her fault, honest mistake while having 100 people watching you) which was kind of special as Josh has had this happen his whole life so it was quite fitting that it happened to Sarah her first time being called by her new legal name.
What was the atmosphere you were trying to create?: We wanted everyone to feel not as though they were a part of either side of our families but rather to feel as one large new family being together.
What area of your wedding did you splurge on? (what was your top priority): There were two areas actually that we had decided that the cost was no problem as long as we were absolutely set on it. One being the dress and the second was the photographers. As long as Sarah felt like a princess and the memories were captured as perfectly as they were then it would all be worth every penny.
What area of your wedding did you save on?: We ended up unintentionally saving money using the venue that we did, as they were also the ones to cater our wedding it worked out to being substantially less than having to find a venue and use outside catering.
What wedding advice would you give to someone planning their wedding now?: The biggest piece of advice while planning is to not get overwhelmed. There is a lot of planning and moving parts that go into a wedding and it can be too much at times. So remember you are about to enter the best partnership that you can, be a team and plan together (Guys get ready to compromise lol).
What was your most memorable moment of the day?: This is a hard one to break down as there were so many amazing memories. One that stands out was reading our vows. Standing in front of all our loved ones expressing exactly how we feel and how the other makes us feel was a very beautiful experience.
What was your biggest challenge in the planning process?: The biggest challenge that we had to face while planning was probably that we both had an idea of what the day should be and trying to make two visions become the same isn’t always as easy as you think.
What was your first dance song?: You make it easy by Jason Aldean
