Intimate Beachy Boho Wedding at Celtic Roots Equestrian Farm
COUPLE
Sarah & Ben
Location
Celtic Roots Equestrian Farm, Tiny Township
From the Photographer:
Sarah and Ben's style speaks to my heart, I mean she was barefoot! There was no fuss or frill it was just down to earth elegance. Sarah wanted to be close to Georgian Bay as she spent a lot of her childhood on the water with their boat.
She chose a beach front in Tiny, Ontario to do a private ceremony with just myself, the officiant and the two of them. On the beach they did a first look and did their own private ceremony on the beach where they recited their handwritten vows to each other. At the reception, held at Celtic Roots Equestrian Farm, I was blown away by how much thought had been put into every single detail of the decor. Every item was searched for in vintage shops and were hand selected by the bride. Every inch of the wedding was surrounded with these personal touches, even incorporating their beloved pups on the drink menus. The event staff at Georgian Roots were phenomenal and created such a beautiful space that really matched Sarah and Ben’s personality and vision. It is a wedding I want to hit rewind on, and play over again.
Sarah purchased a Reclamation gown created by Trista Smith, a sustainable designer in Victoria BC Canada. Her work is so stunning and unique and brings this beautiful nostalgic feel to any imagery with all the layers of textures. Working with this designer’s clothing has been on my bucket list for a long time so I was really excited to be able to photograph her work on such a pretty bride.
From the Couple:
How did you choose your venue?: I was looking for a rustic farm type of venue but wanted it on the water, in particular Georgian Bay. I met with Cady and Gavin at the venue and they showed us all of their decor collection and I immediately knew this was our venue. Gavin hand crafts a lot of their decor collection like the church pew seating for ceremony, farm style tables, the bars, etc. He also custom creates an arbour that you design together. All of these personal touches made me fall in love with this venue.
What was the most important thing for you for your wedding day?: The decor and being on Georgian bay.
What was the atmosphere you were trying to create?: Beachy, boho, woodsy, natural with lots of inspiration from the Georgian bay landscape.
What area of your wedding did you splurge on? (what was your top priority): Our top priority was the venue and location.
Please describe any unique details from your day and why they were special to you: We had a private ceremony on the shore of Georgian bay where we exchanged our own personal vows and exchanged rings. This happened right after our first look on the Georgian bay beach.
What area of your wedding did you save on?: We found a really great local florist who used flowers that were in season and we supplemented with wildflowers that Cady from the venue picked from the fields around the farm and their own garden.
What wedding advice would you give to someone planning their wedding now?: If you want your dream wedding, book everything far in advance so you get first choice of vendors like I did. I had a dream team of vendors because I took my time and have been planning our wedding for over 2 years.
What was your most memorable moment of the day?: My most memorable moment of the day was seeing my husband for the first time on the beach. He surprised me with a bracelet with little hummingbirds on it that represents my grandma who has passed away. Our first look and private ceremony also took away all my nerves and was a perfect moment for just my husband and I to experience.
What was your biggest challenge in the planning process?: My biggest challenge was staying within budget. Finding a caterer that was within my budget was pretty tough but luckily I found an amazing caterer Christina (Culinary Creations by Christina) from Barrie that was able to provide the most delicious family style dinner, apps, dessert, custom late night snack and signature drinks without compromising my budget.
What was your first dance song?: Simply the best, cover by Noah Reid, performed by local band Nathan and Amy (original song by Tina Turner).
