We’re about to let you in on a little secret— Georgian Bay is beautiful.
Yep. You heard it here first.

In all seriousness, there really is no shortage of beautiful locations for your engagement shoot near Georgian Bay. We are blessed with cliffs, and wind swept pines, twisty cedars and turquoise waters. Fields and forests and lakes, oh my!

This recent engagement shoot took advantage of the rugged landscape of the Georgian Bay Islands National Park to frame Hayley & Alex and their love for each other.

Describe what made this session unique: When speaking with Hayley and Alex who call Georgian Bay their home I instantly knew the perfect engagement session for them. Chris and I had been waiting for a while to find the right couple that would love to join us on an evening boat ride on Georgian Bay to a beautiful island we have been going to for years. Hayley and Alex's sense of adventure and love for the area made them the perfect fit. Alex grew up in the area and was able to name every island and channel as we passed which instantly made me know we had the perfect couple for what would end up being one of my favourite engagement sessions to date. The evening could not have been more perfect for a boat ride as the bay was very calm with only a gentle breeze blowing through the trees. Everyone got in the boat and we were off to explore Georgian Bay. Over the 45 minutes we spent on the boat as cottages and crooked pines passed us by it reminded us all how beautiful our home is. As the sun began to sink lower into the horizon we pulled into the rocky bay of the island we would get out to explore. Chris expertly maneuvered the boat through all the rocks and let everyone off. The island has a perfectly flat area in between two majestic towering cliffs covered in windswept pines where we spent a while playing in the water and soaking in the warm summer sun. As the sun began to set we chased it up the rocky cliffs to watch it set beyond the horizon and into the trees. It was the perfect end to an evening on Georgian Bay.

FROM THE COUPLE:

How did you choose your location?: Alex grew up in Penetanguishene, making Georgian Bay a favourite spot. We both love the water and knew we wanted to somehow incorporate Georgian Bay into our engagement photos.

How did you meet?: We met through mutual friends. We were both invited to watch a friend's hockey game and we ended up meeting there.

How did you fall in love?: I don't know if it was a specific moment, but a bunch of little moments together. We had a strong connection right away continued to build upon that.

What's your favourite thing about them?: His outgoing personality and laugh.

When/where did they propose?: Last summer, Alex organized a float plane ride through Georgian Bay Airways in Parry Sound. We flew to the JW Marriott on Lake Rosseau and went for dinner. After dinner, while getting ready to get back on the plane, Alex proposed on the dock!
